Mesothelioma

Share on :

Asbestos (asbestos) is one mineral that can be found easily in the world in the form of fibers or clumps of fiber yarn. This material has high strength and resistance, against fire, heat and chemicals, but can not be broken down by nature. Minerals are finely shaped fibers that occur naturally. As mining in general, asbestos is a rock that clogged yet very easy to split up into numerous
fine fibers are generally very lightweight and easy to fly. Chemically asbestos is a substance composed of magnesium-calcium-silicate fibers berbangun with physical properties that are very strong.

Inhaling asbestos fibers can sometimes lead to accumulation of fluid in the space between two membranes lining the lungs. Asbestos can also cause tumors in the pleura, called mesothelioma. Mesotheliomas are malignant and incurable. Mesotheliomas generally arise after exposure krokidolit, one of four types of asbestos.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of malignant cancer. Cells found in the mesothelium, a protective sac that covers most of the organs. Following his presentation:

1. What is Mesothelium?

The mesothelium is a membrane that covers and protects most of the organs. Consisting of two layers of cells: one layer that surrounds the organs and other forms of sac around it. The mesothelium produces a lubricating fluid released between these layers, allowing moving organs (such as the beating heart and the lungs inflate) to glide easily against adjacent structures.
The mesothelium has different names, depending on the location in the body. The peritoneum is the mesothelial tissue that covers most organs in the abdominal cavity. Pleura is the membrane that surrounds the lungs and lines the chest cavity wall. The pericardium covers and protects the heart. Mesothelial tissue surrounding the internal male reproductive organs is called the tunica vaginalis testis. While the tunica serosa uteri covers the internal reproductive organs of women.

2. What is Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. This cancer can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original host to other parts of the body. Most cases of mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum.

3. Mesothelioma Cancer How Often?

Although the incidence rate increased in the last 20 years, mesothelioma is still a relatively rare cancer. About 2,000 new cases of mesothelioma are diagnosed in the United States each year. Mesothelioma is more common in men than in women. However this Mesothelioma cancer can appear both men and women at any age.

4. What Factors Increase the Risk of Cancer Affected by Mesothelioma?

A person who works or on aktifitasnnya often affected by exposure to asbestos is the major risk factors trigger mesothelioma. However, there are also cases of mesothelioma in some individuals who reported not because of direct exposure to asbestos.

Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, in a study says, someone who has a history of asbestos exposure at work was reported around 70 s / d 80 percent of all cases. or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways. It has also been suggested that washing the clothes of family members who worked with asbestos can put someone at risk for developing mesothelioma.Tidak such as lung cancer, no association between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases the risk of other asbestos-caused cancer. Compensation via asbestos funds or lawsuits is an important issue in mesothelioma

Smoking did not appear to increase the risk of mesothelioma. However, the combination of smoking and asbestos exposure significantly increases a person's risk of developing cancer of the airways in the lungs. What are the symptoms of mesothelioma?
